Why Consider Jeffrey S. Timmons, Photographer?

Lifestyle Portrait - Profile shot of a young woman. Are you an individual that wants a portrait that is not of the shopping mall studio variety, but is an expression of your own individuality - where the photographer comes to you? Are you a beginning model seeking to build a new portfolio or enhance the portfolio you already have? Are you a business that needs the services of a photographer for whatever reason? If so, I want to work with you to get the photos you want and need.

A picture is worth a thousand words. You've heard the cliché over and over again. If it is not worth a thousand words, is it worth the paper its printed on? All the images on this website are my work. Much of it is commercial in nature, but like the photos on this page, not all of it is. And that is some of what I bring to the table - artistry, creativity, and a certain originality.

Are you ready to have your story told?

Artistic Photography - A picture is worth a thousand words.Photography is much like painting except that photography uses light instead of paint, the subject is the canvas, and the camera is the brush. Just as a painter develops his skill through practice and experimentation, so does a photographer. Many photographers never consider the dramatic effect of light in a photograph. They learn what works technically and they never allow themselves to explore the creative side of taking a picture. This is apparent in a large percentage of the thousands of photographs I've seen everywhere from people's walls to malls and even online . . . by professionals!

Don't get me wrong - there are thousands of talented and creative photographers out there. But for every one of those, there is at least one that is technically proficient but creatively stunted. Let me put it this way: A photo is a carefully composed and processed image intended to convey a sense of beauty, to sell a product or an idea, to express an emotion or tell the story. If it lacks creativity, it will be just an ordinary photo. I will bring my share of the creativity that will make your photos move from ordinary to extraordinary.

I use a Nikon dSLR with 10.2 megapixels. This may not mean much to you, but this might: The digital images it produces can be printed out at high resolution at approx 9 X 13. This is the quality used for fine art prints. At standard photo quality, the type you will get having your photos printed at Wal-Mart for example, that translates to a 24 X 36, or poster size, print.

Lifestyle Portrait - a young mother with her child.Portraits in particular are a bugaboo of mine. You can take a thousand portraits by a thousand different photographers and they all look the same. That is because so many "mall studio" portrait photographers are trained to put someone in a certain pose and take a picture with specific lighting and focus. I've discovered that the best photos come from people who are engaged in something they enjoy or challenged by something they don't, and child photos are best when their attention is engaged by someone they love and trust. I will work with you to get that focus which brings an image to life instead of a static, posed "generic" photo. I really believe a picture should tell a story and that every person has a story to tell. Combining the two is the artistry I bring into my photography and will make a beautiful addition to your wall.

I take a very organic approach to photography. This means using whatever is available to make the best photo possible. It means working with the subject to give the photo life, artistry, and originality. And it doesn't cost any more.

I also do all my shooting at a location of your choice. This can be in or around your home, at a park, anywhere you want. This alleviates a lot of the stress involved in arranging your session. I am also available on weekends so you don't have to worry about working all day, then rushing home to prepare yourself, then rushing out to a studio. Less stress = better photos.

So, you can go with a traditional photographer or you can go with someone who strives to be more creative and vivid and end up with something unique. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
